Jin-Ho Shin
Legend to watch: C Jin-Ho Shin (6-foot-1, 212 pounds, age 21, bats and throws right, from Hwasun-gun, South Korea) shares the team lead in doubles (8) and is batting .226 through 29 games, with a homer, nine RBI and 12 runs. Signed as a non-drafted free agent Feb. 14, 2009, he is the first Korean-born player in Royals franchise history. Shin broke in with the Arizona League Royals in 2010, going .152-1-11 over 39 games. In 2011, with Burlington of the Appalachian League, his production improved to .219-3-15 over 46 games. Last year, over 60 games with Idaho Falls of the Pioneer League and 27 contests with Kane County of the Midwest League, Shin batted .247 with eight homers, 41 RBI and 46 runs.
Brandon Miller
Sun to watch: RF Brandon Miller (6-2, 215, 23, right/right, from Atlanta) leads Hagerstown in homers (9), RBI (27), doubles (12), total bases (76) and slugging percentage (.503), while batting .245. A fourth-round draft pick last year out of Samford, he led the NCAA with 23 homers and ranked 15th nationally with a school-record 65 RBI as a senior. He also set Samford’s career record for homers (39). He began his collegiate career as a catcher at Georgia Tech, transferred to Northwest Florida Community College and then to Samford. Last summer, he played 29 games for Auburn of the New York-Penn League, batting .292 with four homers, 21 RBI and 20 runs. Coming into this season, Baseball America rated him the 22nd-best prospect in the Nationals system
